Troubleshooting

Something not working right? Most issues with the brat video generator have a simple fix. Find your problem below.

Audio Problems

Audio won't upload

Bratify supports MP3, WAV, and M4A only. If your file isn't uploading, it's likely the wrong format. Convert it to MP3 using cloudconvert.com, then try again. See the full supported audio formats guide.

Audio uploads but doesn't play

This usually happens when the file is too large for the browser to load, or when the file is corrupted. Try these steps:

  1. Close other tabs to free up browser memory
  2. Check the file plays in another app (VLC, QuickTime, etc.)
  3. Re-download or re-export the audio file from its source
  4. Convert to MP3 at 128kbps โ€” smaller files load faster
  5. Try Chrome if you're on a different browser

Audio plays but cuts out during export

This can happen if your computer runs low on memory during rendering. Close unnecessary apps and tabs, then try exporting again. If the audio is long, try trimming it within Bratify before exporting.

Export Problems

Export gets stuck or won't finish

Long videos or high-resolution exports take more time. Wait at least 2 minutes before assuming something is wrong. If it's genuinely stuck (progress bar hasn't moved in a long time):

  1. Refresh the page โ€” your frames and audio stay in the editor
  2. Try a shorter video or fewer frames
  3. Reduce the resolution (try 720p instead of 1080p)
  4. Switch to a different browser โ€” Chrome handles large exports best
  5. Close other tabs before exporting to free up memory

Export finishes but no download appears

Your browser may have blocked the automatic download. Check for a blocked download notification in your browser's address bar or toolbar, then click Allow. Full instructions in the download guide.

Video exported but has no audio

GIF exports never have audio โ€” that's expected. For MP4 with audio, make sure you've uploaded audio and it's playing in the editor before you export. If you export without audio loaded, the MP4 will be silent.

Exported video looks blurry or low quality

Check your export settings โ€” make sure you're exporting at the resolution you want (1080p for best quality). Also check that you're watching the video at full resolution in your player; some players default to lower quality preview.

Editor Problems

Text is getting cut off

Long lines of text can overflow the frame at smaller sizes. Shorten your text, break it into two frames, or reduce the font size in the frame settings. 3โ€“6 words per line is the reliable range.

Preview looks different from the exported video

The preview in the editor is an approximation โ€” the exported video is the accurate version. If something looks off in export that looks fine in preview, check your frame timing and text positioning.

Changes aren't saving

Bratify doesn't save projects to a server โ€” everything is in your browser's memory. If you refresh the page, your work is gone. Don't refresh until after you've exported. If you need to step away, export first, then come back.

Browser and Device Problems

Page loads slowly or freezes

The video generator runs entirely in your browser, so it needs decent hardware and memory. Try these fixes:

Not working on iPhone / iPad

Safari on iOS has stricter memory limits. If the generator isn't working on iPhone:

Something broke and nothing above helps

Use the Feedback button at the bottom right of the page. Describe what you were doing, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. Include your browser and device if you can. We read every report.
