Black Brat Generator
The black color preset uses a pure #000000 background with white text. It applies the same brat format — bold lowercase text, canvas-based rendering, adjustable blur — in a high-contrast dark scheme.
Black is the most versatile preset in the brat generator. It works for edgy or moody content, but it also reads as clean and minimal in a way that green does not. It is less tied to the specific Charli XCX reference, which makes it usable in contexts where you want the brat typographic format without the cultural association.
When to Use Black
Black works well for dark, cynical, or deadpan content — the high contrast between white text and black background is sharp and direct. It is also a strong choice for Discord profile pictures: the dark background blends with Discord's dark mode interface while the white text remains fully readable.
It is effective for quotes, short statements, and any content where you want the text to be the focus without the color competing for attention. The absence of color is itself a statement in the brat format.
Blur on Black
The blur setting interacts differently with black than with colored backgrounds. At 0px blur, white text on black is sharp and clinical — a clean, high-contrast look that works well for readability-focused content. At 1.5px (the default), the white text softens slightly against the black, closer to the brat aesthetic. At higher blur values, the white text starts to glow slightly against the dark background, which can work for more atmospheric or abstract images.
Both 0px and 1.5px are valid choices for black. Try both and see which suits the content.
